CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – After tangling with the region’s toughest harness racing mares in her latest, Tobins Brownie (Stonebridge Terror) sets her sights on Thursday evening honours in the feature as action resumes at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The capital oval has a 13-dash presentation with first post time at 6 P.M.

Race 12 is a $4,200 Fillies & Mares pace and Tobins Brownie is a top contender from post 2 with Adam Merner at the controls from his own barn for owners Sandra Weeks and Brittany Watts. The six-year-old daughter of Stonebridge Terror last raced in the $14,000 Ruby Chappell Memorial Open Mares final during Governor’s Plate Night at Red Shores Summerside.

Windemere Saddy (To be driven by Corey MacPherson) drew the rail for the Saul Lanigan barn as the morning line favourite and was a winner in the $8,500 Ruby Chappell Memorial Consolation her last start in 1:55.1.

JM Sportsfan (Steven Shepherd) is installed as the 3-1 second choice from post 4 for trainer Harold Shepherd. Also in the field are Woodmere Kennedie (Gilles Barrieau), Lady Devine (Jason Hughes) and Get Answers (Marc Campbell).

The Post Time Picks go with Tobins Brownie.

“Tobins Brownie was up against the best mares in the region and only three lengths away. She gets a better post to work from tonight and Merner will have her up close to the action so be prepared for a good result.”

The Thursday night trotting feature will go postward in race 7 with $4,000 at stake and a well-matched group of six vying for top honours.

Fight Song headlines the class from post 6 with Jason Hughes back in the seat for trainer Ashley Gamester and owner Donald MacRae of Vernon Bridge. The six-year-old son of Kadabra has set track records at Red Shores Charlottetown and Red Shores Summerside in his last two.

Buckhead Ridge (Marc Campbell) won seven straight when he first came to P.E.I., but fell short in his last two and leaves from post 5 this week.

Helpfull Princess (Adam Merner) draws post 3 as the 7-2 third choice from the Luke Burke barn.

Race 5 is the Ed and Marcia Johnston Memorial while race 6 is heralded as the CIBC Private Wealth Pickard Poirier Advisory Group Pace.
