The Southern Surge meeting at Winton on Sunday has attracted capacity fields and has been well supported by Oamaru horseman Phil Williamson who’ll bring six trotters south for the eleven race card.

In Race One, Rangitata (Tactical Landing) and What’s The Whisper (What The Hill) represent the barn.

Rangitata is out of a sister to the dam of Lyell Creek and is a half-sister to Le Reveur and Te Rapa each of whom won six races.

Rangitata has been to two trials winning her last.

What’s The Whisper is closely related to Chinese Whisper, the winner of twenty three races and Irish Whisper which won fourteen.

He’s been to four trials and was sighted finishing his last one off in style to run second.

In Race Six Williamson lines up the talented Tarragindi (Majestic Son).

He was beaten by a neck by Meant To Be in the Group One Two Year Old Trotters Championship and was a nice winner at Addington last month. He’s been back to the trials since.

In Race Ten Phil has three runners – Torquay Street (Father Patrick), Our Pinocchio (Bacardi Lindy) and Missile (Trixton).

Torquay Street resumes on Sunday after last starting in January at Cromwell on the grass. She’s had just the one trial which she won.

Our Pinocchio is in great form at the moment, recording two seconds and a win in his last three starts.
