Brilliant harness racing colt Fire and Passion (Always B Miki) stamped himself as well above average when he led most of the way to take out the Group 1 $150,000 Qbred Triad Final for two year old colts and geldings at Albion Park on Saturday evening.

Grant Dixon held the cards to the race with the two favourites Fire and Passion and Fight For Victory. He decided to drive Fire and Passion while wife Trista was abroad Fight For Victory.
In a fast run race early James Alfred held the lead and Dixon was content to allow Fire and Passion to balance and then take up the running which he was able to do without much effort.
From the outside of the second row Pure Grunt’s driver Leigh Sutton with a classic stroke was able to take the trail behind the leader and then settle three back when Fire And Passion found the lead.
Fight For Victory who was on the inside of the second row was snagged back along the rails four back and even at the early stage of the event his task looked difficult.
Dixon made sure that the field couldn’t catch him by running his last two quarters in 27.9 and 26.8 seconds and he had five metres to spare over James Alfred with Pure Grunt in third.
FIRE AND PASSION AUG 16 REPLAY
Overall Fire and Passion returned a blistering mile rate of 1.52.2.
Fight For Victory finally come off the rails in the back straight but he was standing Fire And Passion over 15 metres start and the quick sectionals made it impossible for him gain much ground. Nonetheless he was still doing his best work at the finish for fourth. He still has a promising future ahead of him.

Grant Dixon stated after the event
“He hasn’t been beaten when he’s got the front. He’s strong and he can run along really good sectionals and he’s nice and strong”.
“He does exactly what you want. He wants to do his work. He’s a great eater, great doer and I’m really happy with him this season . He only blotted his copybook twice, one wasn’t his fault and on the other occasion it was probably my fault”.
“He’ll go for a spell now, I’ll scan the calendar but I’m sure he’ll go for a nice rest. He should come back as a nice three year old. I hope he doesn’t put too much weight on and we’re really pleased with him”.
