Steven’s Saloon rallies to $18K Open score

HARRINGTON, DE – Rich Ashley and Michael Cain’s Steven’s Saloon ($23.80, Jason Thompson) was a 1:53 harness racing winner in the $18,000 Open at Harrington Raceway Monday.

The 4-year-old Always B Miki gelding put together a strong stretch surge to notch his 8th win of the season over Itsrockandroll A and Rocknroll Lou. Trained by Joe Hunderptfund Jr., Steven’s Saloon has been in fine form, off seven straight finishes where he has been no worse than second. The same connections would strike one race later as Atoughnuttocrack (Thompson) was a 1:54.2 winner. Thompson drove 3 winners on the program.

STEVEN’S SALOON REPLAY

Crissman Inc.’s World Beater ($2.80, Montrell Teague) won his 4th straight race in 1:54.2 for trainer Tim Crissman. The Captaintreacherous gelding has won 4-of-5 starts this year.

Russell Foster and Allan Davis each had driving doubles.

Racing will continue on a Monday through Wednesday schedule (post time 4:30 p.m.).
