CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – The Saturday evening program at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park will showcase top Preferred pacers and competitive overnight classes in a 14-dash offering.

First race post time is 6 P.M.

The $5,500 Preferred 1 pace lines up in Race 13, with Twin B Tuffenuff drawing post 4 for trainer Ron Matheson and driver Gilles Barrieau. Owned by Pat Morris, the son of Rock N Roll Heaven has banked over $813,000 in his career and is right in the thick of action every week with a win and two-seconds in his last three starts.

Avatar J has rail control in the Preferred with Marc Campbell in the bike for trainer Darren Smith. A winner of 40 races lifetime, the American Ideal pacer will look to use his inside position to establish early position.

Impeccable Shadow has post 2 with Paul Langille at the lines after posting sharp efforts in recent starts, while Bee Two Bee will leave from post 5 at the 5-2 morning line favorite for trainer Ashley Gamester and driver Jason Hughes. House Edge Hanover (To be driven by Ken Murphy) completes the compact field of five from post 3 for trainer Matheson.

The Post Time Picks select Twin B Tuffenuff as the one to beat.

“Barrieau was looking to put Twin B Tuffenuff on the front last week but Myles had different plans, so they had to go to plan B and take a brief seat before challenging again first-up. He raced tough to finish second, but it was a horrible trip for him. The good thing is great horses bounce back, and Barrieau should have smooth sailing to the front tonight, so I’m putting him on top.”

Race 14 carries a purse of $2,900 with Evil Vintage rated the 5-2 morning line favorite from post 6. Corey MacPherson trains and drives the five-year-old son of Great Vintage for owner Sandra Stead. He will have to contend with Imalookertoo leaving from post 5 with Adam Merner in the bike as the 3-1 second choice, while Woodmere Sinatra is fresh off a sharp runner-up effort and draws the rail for driver David Dowling. West Coast Kid (Hughes), Well Did (Langille), newcomer Blue Moose (Steven Shepherd) and Crosscut (Zac Loye) are also in the mix in the wide-open affair.

Racing fans can take in all the action live at the historic Charlottetown oval or watch the Race Day broadcast at Redshores.ca. Wagering is available online through HPIBET.com.

Atlantic Sires Stakes Stars Invade Summerside

The two-year-olds take centre stage Sunday afternoon at Red Shores Summerside Raceway as the Atlantic Sires Stakes resumes with top rookie pacers battling in Gold divisions.

The 13-dash presentation kicks off at a special post time of 4 P.M., to accommodate an earlier closure of the Confederation Bridge to celebrate the Terry Fox Run.

The other $20,020 filly A-division lands in Race 10 with undefeated Windemere Skye looking to keep her perfect season intact in her eighth career start. The Earl Watts–trained daughter of Somewhere Fancy has drawn post 8 with Marc Campbell in the bike after a dazzling 1:55 performance last week for owners Windemere Farms and Matt Burke. She faces seven foes including Baker’s Dozen (To be driven by Paul Langille) from post 1 and Saulsbrook Desi (Adam Merner) from post 4.

The other $20,020 Atlantic Sires Stakes A-division for two-year-old pacing fillies lines up in Race 13, with Woodmere Summer drawing post 1 for driver Paul Langille, trainer Kyle Williams and owners Dads Without Abs Stable. The daughter of Bet The Moon was second in her latest starts appearance in an A-division at Northside Downs in Nova Scotia. Her biggest dangers are Beach Jewels (Gilles Barrieau), Mysterious Ways (Jason Hughes) and Mattnificent Rose (Ken Murphy).

Two-year-old pacing colts headline in A-divisions worth $17,740 each in races 4 and 7.

The colts start A-action in Race 4 with Woodmere Mahomes the one to beat from post 1 for trainer-driver Barrieau and owner Daniel Ross after a string of sharp tries including a 1:57 Charlottetown win two starts back. Fire And Blood (Mike Downey) and Woodmere Kobe (Kenneth Arsenault) will try to spoil from posts 3 and 4, respectively, while Louie The Lip (Brodie MacPhee) has been a model of consistency from post 2.

Race 7 sees Zero Two Sixty favoured in his A-division clash with Barrieau driving for trainer Sifroi Melanson and owner Ultimate Stable of Greater Lakerburn, N.B. The son of Tobago Cays was a winner in his last two and will have to deal with Rollwiththewarden (Corey MacPherson) from post 2 and Sporty Anthony (Murphy) from post 4.

B divisions of the Atlantic Sires Stakes are also part of the program with $6,000 splits for two-year-old pacing fillies in Races 2 and 6, and for two-year-old pacing colts in Races 5, 8 and 11.

Fans can take in the action live at the track or tune into the Race Day broadcast at Redshores.ca. Wager from anywhere through HPIBET.com.
