Lexington, KY – The Red Mile, America’s oldest harness track and a cornerstone of the sport in Kentucky, proudly announces it will serve as host track for the 2027 Breeders Crown, harness racing’s premier championship series.

This landmark role underscores The Red Mile’s unwavering commitment not only to the future of harness racing, but also to the strength of the breeding industry in Kentucky and across the nation.

“For over a century, The Red Mile has been home to world-class racing and has played an integral role in the growth of the Standardbred industry,” said Joe Costa, Red Mile CEO. “Hosting the Breeders Crown represents more than a celebration of competition – it is an affirmation of our dedication to the breeders, horsemen, and fans who ensure the vitality of this sport for generations to come.”

Kentucky’s long-standing reputation as the global epicenter of horse breeding is at the heart of The Red Mile’s mission. By hosting the Breeders Crown, The Red Mile seeks to highlight the vital contributions of breeders nationwide, while reinforcing the Bluegrass State’s role as the industry’s foundation.

The Breeders Crown brings together the best Standardbreds from around the world, competing for championship glory and millions in purses. With The Red Mile as host track, the 2027 edition promises to be both a historic racing event and a showcase of the partnerships that drive the sport forward.

“Our industry thrives when we honor our traditions while investing in the future” added Joe Costa. “The Red Mile is proud to stand alongside breeders, owners, trainers, and fans in making the 2027 Breeders Crown a defining moment in the ongoing story of harness racing.”

The Breeders Crown series was created in 1984 and has been the deciding factor in Horse of the Year honors since its inception. More than $239 million in purse money has been dispersed over 478 events.
