CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Saulsbrook Ian stamped his class in Tuesday’s $4,300 Race 10 feature at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park, circling to the lead and never looking back.
SAULSBROOK IAN REPLAY
Leaving from post 6, the Betterthancheddar gelding was unhurried at the start settling away at the back before brushing to command the lead before the half of 56.3. Driver Ken Murphy then continued the tempo with splits of 1:25.2 before closing out in 28.1 to win by one-and-a-half lengths in 1:53.3 over pocket drafting Impeccable Shadow (Driven by Paul Langille) and Pauls Crown (Marc Campbell). Saulsbrook Ian ($4.40) is trained by Jamie Smith for owner Red Oak Stables.
Earlier, the back-up class in Race 5 went to Malignity ($2.10), who controlled the tempo from the rail and kicked home in 27.3 to score in 1:54 for trainer-driver Langille and owners Debbie Francis, Rosanne Langille and Chantel Langille. Dusty Lane Zoro (Don MacNeill) chased him home for second with T H Boomtown (Gilles Barrieau) third.
Race 3 saw a dead-heat as Redwhiteandboots (Corey MacPherson) surged late to hit the wire together with Roll Your Coin (Myles Heffernan Sr.) in 1:58. The unusual result detonated a monster Exacta as the 1-2 combination paid out at $633.50 for $2.00.
