Batavia, NY — It took seven starts, but Alabama Hannah (Huntsville) finally got her first harness racing win at Batavia Downs after taking the $8,800 fillies and mares A-AA Handicap on Wednesday (Oct. 15) night.

Alabama Hannah (Joe Chindano Jr.) called all the shots to the half in a tepid :59.2, before pressure from American Jazz (Jim McNeight Jr.) forced a suddenly quick :28 flat third panel. But that push only hurt American Jazz, who tailed off in the turn, leaving Alabama Hannah a loose leader turning for sweet home. Alabama Hannah then paced clear to the wire while holding off a late closing Rightfully Mine (Kyle Swift) to win by 1-¼ lengths in 1:56.

ALABAMA HANNAH REPLAY

It was the fifth win of the year for Alabama Hannah ($9.02) who is owned by Jeffrey Nanna and trained by Mike Deters.

Alabama Hannah was only one of four winners Joe Chindano Jr. drove during the night. He also scored with Infinity Seelster (1:56.4, $8.84), Premier Tess (1:58.2, $20.82) and Wildcat Lisa (1:58.3, $6.12).

Kyle Swift also had himself a big night on Wednesday, winning three races as a driver and two as a trainer.

Live racing resumes at Batavia Downs on Friday (Oct. 17) with post time at 6:00 p.m. and there will be a $4,340 carryover in the Jackpot Super Hi-5 pentafecta in the 13th race.

Free full card past performance programs for every live card of racing at Batavia can always be downloaded at The Downs’ website (bataviadownsgaming.com) under the “Live Racing” tab. Then you can watch all the races live as they happen for free on the Batavia Downs YouTube page.
