Louprint retains top spot as Beau Jangles climbs

Louprint (Sweet Lou) remained comfortably at the top of the Week 19 edition of the Breeders Crown/Hambletonian Society poll, released Wednesday, despite suffering his first loss of the season while unbeaten Beau Jangles (Cattlewash) continued his ascent in the harness racing rankings.

Louprint suffered a nose loss in his Breeders Crown elimination this past weekend at Woodbine Mohawk Park, his first setback in 11 races this year. After being the unanimous No. 1 the past two weeks, he received 28 of 35 first-place votes and was 93 points ahead of No. 2 Twin B Joe Fresh (who was idle).

Beau Jangles, perfect in 11 starts, moved from fifth to No. 3 in the poll after winning his Breeders Crown elimination. Rounding out the top five were two other Breeders Crown elim winners, Yo Tillie and Lexus Kody.

Emoticon Legacy, whose Breeders Crown division went directly to the final, dropped from third to sixth and was followed in the rankings by Breeders Crown elimination winners Miki And Minnie, Loua Dipa and Ervin Hanover. Sylvia Hanover, who was sixth in a Breeders Crown prep, dropped to No. 10.

The Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll, which will continue weekly on Wednesdays through the Grand Circuit season, does not determine year-end awards. The members of the U.S. Harness Writers Association vote on all Dan Patch Award division winners plus Trotter of the Year, Pacer of the Year, and Horse of the Year.

Rankings based on the votes of harness racing media representatives on a 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis.
