Harness racing hits Ashburton again today with 10 races on the card. The racing starts at 12:00pm and we highlight some specials and value runners we think can give you a run for your money on a good day of racing.

Best Bet:  R12  Secret Agent Man

Best Value:  R1  Dornish Hill 

Race 1

Dornish Hill  (3) Nice third on debut and should run top three with manners in this field
Chocta (4) Got home well last start and looks a good each way chance on that. Needed here
Delphyne (5) Stable respect but will need to lift to beat the favourite. Hard to hold out

Race 2

She’s A Lady (10) Has a bit of a reputation and ran home well last start. Should go close
Edict (3) Has early speed to be one of the leaders and will be fitter. Has to be included here
Amarula Franco (8) Stable does well with first starters. Top three chance here on debut

Race 3

Clotilde Wainwright (10) Big run last start after breaking. Good run expected with manners
One Over Da Line (1) Will start a short favourite after two good seconds the last couple. Needed
Barrytown (8) Good effort last start for his placing and can sneak into the top three with luck 

Race 4

War Cry (3) Solid second last start and a winning chance from the draw. Go again in this field
Treacherous Me (7) Has early speed and has been freshened. Should give a good account
Ripples (5) Out of form but big track might suit. Top three chance if she gets a good run in transit

Race 5

Got The Chocolates (4) Has gate speed and beat a similar field last start. Top selection in this
Marketplace (7) Last run was a good second and gate speed if they use it. Good each way chance
Greased Lightnin (5) Will be fitter after last start win. Even field but worth including in this

Race 6

Rogue Hero (4) Galloped early last start. Hard to beat if he can fire forward early off the gate
Meant To Be (12) Tricky draw for this. Winning claims if he gets a cart into the race. Needed
Tarragindi (8) Did well last start after a gallop mid race. Winning claims with no mistakes

Race 7

Ruby Roe (1) Best draw for some time and hard to hold out here with any luck from the ace
Treacherous Baby (4) Lots of speed and big track will suit. Should go close to top three here
Lakelsa (10) Should get a good run on the pegs near the speed. Can run top three with gaps

Race 8

Arafura (5) Powerful stable and master driver booked. Will go forward and be put in the race
Celestial Sea (3) Decent motor and is drawn well here. One of the better top three chances here
Duchess Of Kent (6) Freshened and speedy at her best. Will run a quick mile from the draw

Race 9

Muscle Mountain (2) Loves these conditions and looks hard to hold out. Can run quick time
Bet N Win (4) Decent motor and start the only concern. At his best would take him close
One Over All (65 Disappointing last start. Has gate speed and place hope here at longer odds

Race 10

Eun Sogno (3) Building to a win and drawn well here. Looks a good bet if he finds the front
Zeus Lightning (7) Wider draw but better than most in this field. Has to be respected again
Fugitive (14) Good win last start and can do some work mid race. Draw the only concern

Race 11

We Walk By Faith (1) Comes up with the ace draw and track suits. Can go close with manners
Republican Party (7) Good stand start form and dangerous if he finds the front. Needed here
Akuta (2) Likely to race close to the speed. One of the better chances and should give a sight

Race 12

Secret Agent Man (3) Has been freshened and looks better than most of these. Top selection
Clonakilty (7) Trained locally and will go close to placing in this field. Has to be respected here
Elton J (10) Won well last start and will get a soft pegs run. Top three claims again with gaps
