The fast Yirribee Pacing Stud import Warrawee Needy 1:46.8 ($1.2 million) was represented by his fifth NSW Breeders Challenge winner when Our Goat outsprinted his harness racing rivals in the Group 3 $50,000 Final for four-year-old entires and geldings at Menangle last Saturday (October 25).

Our Goat clocked a career-best 1:49.7 for the flying mile.

The win increased his lifetime stake tally to $184,950.

The gelding joins Soap Opera (3YOF-2024), Saveoon (2YOF-2022), Ideal In Dreams (2YOF-2021) and Warrawee Drinking (2YOC&G-2020) as Breeders Challenge champions sired by Warrawee Needy.

Our Goat’s Breeders Challenge triumph was the highlight of a busy month for the former world champion and Canadian 2YO Colt of the Year Warrawee Needy.

Other recent winners sired by him have been the three-year-olds Charivari 1:57.3 (Gloucester Park), Withdistinction (1:54.4), Flash Azarat (1:55.7), Bondi Lass and Ima Little Needy, Test Of Fire (1:55.1), Rockindownunder (1:56.6), Warrawee Flyer (1:57.5), Rosie Pullen, Shes Believable and Coolandcollect.

Warrawee Needy has left the winners of $4.3 million in Australia to date at an average of almost $30,000 per starter. This season he has sired 53 individual winners including 18 three-year-olds and progeny earnings of more than $1 million.

Warrawee Needy stands alongside the fully booked Cattlewash at Yirribee Pacing Stud.
