With the SA Pacing Cup carnival now consigned to the history books, the racing action at Globe Derby Park continues to gain momentum with feature meetings to be held the next two Saturday nights.
This Saturday’s night’s seven-race card is headed up by the Remembrance Day Pace (1800 metres), which has attracted a full field of 11 runners.
SA Harness Racing Club President Richard Miller said: “The SAHRC would like to acknowledge all those who are currently serving or have served in one of our three defence corps. We encourage everyone to purchase a poppy or a Remembrance pin.”
The meeting on Saturday night, November 15 is shaping as one of the biggest and best on the SA racing calendar.
The star-studded program features the $25,000 Kevin & Kaye Seymour Trotters Cup, a discretionary handicap event over 2645 metres from the standing start.
“This feature is one of six feature races conducted in the past 12 months that recognises the unique partnership between the Seymour Group and the SA Harness Racing Club,” Miller said.
“The Seymour Group’s property development expertise and Kevin Seymour’s unwavering desire to see South Australian harness racing prosper has resulted in a plan to make the industry sustainable for many years to come and for the Club to remain the premier harness racing facility in the State.”
The program also features the $14,000 Minor Derby Free-for-all (2230 metres), honouring one of SA’s all-time great pacers, and the time-honoured classics the Lordship Stakes (1800 metres) for two-year-old colts and geldings and the Ladyship Stakes (1800 metres) for two-year-old fillies.
The four feature events are all restricted to locally trained pacers and trotters.
