NO LIVE RACING THURSDAY

Hollywood Casino at The Meadows will race on Wednesday and Friday this week, both days at 12:45 with 15 races.  There will be no live racing on Thursday, Thanksgiving Day.

TRACK RECORD FALLS

A rarely noticed track record fell last Wednesday at The Meadows in the top-level trot.  Adamsville Road and Winslow hit the wire together in 1:52.2, the fastest dead heat ever at The Meadows on the trot.  Adamsville Road, driven by Dave Palone for trainer John Ryan Melsheimer, put his name into the local record books for the first time.  For Winslow, trained by Dana Kahrig and driven by Aaron Merriman, it was the third time this year his name has been placed on the books.  First, he tied the track record for 4YO trotting geldings, then took sole possession of it a week later with a 1:51.1 effort.  The duo now shares the dead heat record, which was previously 1:53.2 on two different occasions by four different horses.

WEDNESDAY FEATURE

A field of 7 will face the starter on Wednesday in the $18,000 Filly & Mare Open Pace.  Sophomore Time Of The Season (post 4) has been installed as the 9-5 morning line favorite after back-to-back second place finishes against the top older mares.  She is trained by Tim Twaddle and will be driven by Aaron Merriman.  Last week’s winner, Seaside Diva, is the second choice.  Ronnie Wrenn Jr will drive for trainer Ron Burke from post 6.  The Burke Stable will debut a new member of their racing team, Side Piece, a 5YO mare.  She arrives from Plainridge after going 5-for-24 this season.  She won her last start in the top mares pace at PrC in 1:52.2.

IOWA HORSES MAKE IMPACT

Several horses that spent the summer competing on the Iowa circuit have been making an impact on races at The Meadows the past couple of weeks.  Last Thursday, a pair of former Iowa trotters took the top two spots in a NW2 event, as Royal Comet defeated My Man Mahomes.  Dirk Simpson trains the winner, as the Muscle Mass gelding improved to 13-for-23 in his career.
