A dramatic four-horse lunge to the line decided Wednesday’s (Nov. 26) $274,720 Group 2 Progress Pace for three-year-olds at Bally’s Dover, with outsider Fallout (Captaintreacherous) producing a late surge to score at 20-1.

Driven by Tim Tetrick, Fallout settled in the middle of the pack from the second line while hot favourite Dandy Ideal worked hard early to cross to the lead after a slick 26-second opening quarter. The pressure remained on as the leader rolled to the half in 53, with Tetrick tracking Fusion before being forced three-wide approaching the final turn as that runner faded.
Straightening for home, Dandy Ideal was under heavy attack from all directions — Captain Optimistic driving through on the inside, Madden Oaks sweeping wide with momentum, and Fallout continuing to build on the extreme outside. In a thrilling finish, Fallout lifted late to grab Captain Optimistic by the narrowest of margins in 1:49.4, with Madden Oaks another head away in third. Dandy Ideal stayed on bravely for fourth.
Fallout, a son of Captaintreacherous out of Aria Hanover, is trained by Ron Burke for Burke Racing Stable, Larry Karr, Phil Collura and Knox Services Inc. The victory was his sixth and propelled his earnings to $881,820, returning $42.20 on the win tote.
