Victorian filly Let Her Roll (Sweet Lou) appreciated the drop in class when she outclassed her opponents leading all the way in the Listed Ladbrokes South Australia Oaks at Globe Derby on Saturday evening.

Taken to the front by driver Wayne Hill, Let Her Roll was never seriously threatened by any of the locals and in the final lap she put more space between her rivals to give them a lesson.
At the finish she had just on 30 metres to spare over Dee Jays Miss and Queen Lilibet who had to race outside the leader to hold on for third.
LET HER ROLL NOV 29 REPLAY
She ran an impressive 1.56.1 for the 1800 metre trip.

Last season Let Her Roll won the Southern Stars Final at Globe Derby before winning the Victorian Sapling Stakes and recently she had been racing in better company than her Oaks opposition.
However Let Her Roll does have a strong South Australian background. Her dam Rocknroll Magic also trained by Emma Stewart won the Southern Cross series at Globe Derby at both two and three years of age. She also won the Breeders Crown at Melton.
Rocknroll Magic has also left the winners Michayway and Cardigan Dan.
Let Her Roll’s SA Oaks success completed a remarkable night for Stewart. Earlier in the evening at Globe Derby her two year old filly My Bettor Half (Bettors Delight) scored a thrilling win in the Southern Stars Final just edging out a determined Steam Machine.
In Tasmania, Hungry Hippo was successful for Stewart in the Dandy Patch for three year olds and she then won the APG Four Year Old Pacers Final with Miki To Success (Always B Miki) and the four year old mares with Kiss (Always B Miki).

It was also a good night for local driver Wayne Hill. As well as winning with both Let Her Roll and My Bettor Half, he notched a treble with the success of Captain Fearless (Captain Treacherous).
Wayne Hill commented aftern winning the Oaks.
That was my first South Australian Oaks. She travelled quite good. Her last half of 56.5 and final quarter 27.6 were really outstanding. That was a sizzling time for Globe Derby.
I managed to find the breeze early and she just poured the pressure from the 600 metres. I wanted to keep her balanced on the final bend as she had wobbled in previous run. Again I have to say that her sectionals were extremely good. She pulled up quite well.
I’d watched her previous race videos and she made a lot of progression up until the VicBred Final. I just wanted to make sure she would get around the final bend without any issues.
As for the Southern Cross event the leader Steam Machine had shown a little bit of ability in past. I may have underestimated her a little bit. Sectionals were extremely good but full credit to my filly My Bettor Half. She’s tough and she knuckled down when the pressure was tight.
Emma and Clayton’s horses are just so strong and fit.
Hill won his first State title last year and is on track to win this year’s title with 157 wins. He’s now working full time in harness racing and can be expected to play a major role in the State’s harness racing scene for years to come.
