CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – New Year’s Eve racing closed the book on the 2025 season Wednesday night at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park, and retiring pacer Well Did kicked off a career night for harness racing trainer-driver Paul Langille.

Two veteran campaigners also made their final starts on the night, with 14-year-old Mighty Mouse retiring after competing in the opener and longtime warrior Well Did going out a winner in race 5 as they both face mandatory retirement when they turn 15 on Jan. 1.
In his final appearance before mandatory retirement, Well Did ($6.70) delivered a storybook farewell in the Happy Retirement Pictonian Storm Pace in race 5, wiring the field in 1:58.1 for trainer-driver Paul Langille and owner Well Did Stable of Lower Onslow, N.S.
The victory was number 64-lifetime for the pacer to retire as the winningest son of multi-millionaire pacing sire Well Said. Good Omen ($2.90) was all business in race 6, with trainer-driver Langille blasting to the top and opening up in 1:56.4 then the speed show continued in race 7 as Malignity ($2.10) crushed the field by 11 -lengths in 1:54. Impeccable Shadow ($4.10) delivered in race 9 sweeping to the lead late on the way to a 1:55.4 decision for win number four on the evening for Langille followed by Nolans Magic Shui ($16.00) in 1:57.3 in race 11 for an undefeated evening from five starts for the Pinette based trainer.
Langille then steered Brokeandoutofgas ($3.90) to a sharp 1:54.4 score in race 13 for trainer Tammy Collings for his sixth driving win. Navalny ($2.70) was also victorious in race 8 to give owners Dale & Ronnie Rennie Inc., of Alma, three wins on the night, this time with Brady Sweet driving for trainer Jeff Holmes.
Steamboat Springs ($2.10) dominated race 12 in 1:56.3 for trainer Adam Merner to give him his first ever training title at Red Shores Charlottetown. The Port Morien, N.S., native finished the season with 63 wins, ahead of Jennifer Doyle with 59 wins after a training double on the program while Landon Campbell was third with 58 victories. Ashley Gamester had the most purse earnings on the year in Charlottetown with $278,532 in prize money as a trainer. Marc Campbell won his 16th straight driving title at Red Shores Charlottetown with 153 wins with Gilles Barrieau second at 122 wins and Corey MacPherson third at 105 winners.
Campbell also set a new Atlantic Canadian record for prize money won by horses he drove at $1,190,859 in the region during 2025. In the New Year’s Eve Finale, Edge Of The World ($7.50) used front-end control to land the race 14 closer for driver-owner-trainer Brett Leblanc, turning back the late push of Moonwriter (Driven by Marc Campbell).
The five-year-old Sunshine Beach gelding stepped through fractions of 29.1, 58.4 and 1:28.4 before finishing it off in 1:58 to secure the season-ending victory. Moonwriter was a solid second while longshot Mac Anover (Jason Hughes) rallied for third.
