The diminutive little trotting machine Jilliby Ballerini (Majestic Son) gave yet another devastating display in coming off 30 metres to obliterate her rivals in the Group 3 Aldebaran Park Bendigo Trotters Cup at Melton on Saturday evening.

The Bendigo meeting was transferred to Melton as the Bendigo district was deemed a fire risk area with the current Victorian bushfires.
Coming off the 30 metre backmark, Jilliby Ballerini showed her typical faultless start to quickly catch the bulk of the field. Bennie And The Jets and Rapid Return both galloped shortly after the start which then allowed Gotfeelingsyouknow to stride to the lead.
JILLIBY BALLERINI 10 JAN REPLAY
Glen Craven on Jilliby Ballerini was content to let her sit one out four back while Gotfeelingsyouknow was allowed to dictate the terms of the pace.
It wasn’t until going into the back straight on the final occasion that Craven let Jilliby Ballerini go and she effortlessly strode past the field to move up to Gotfeelingsyouknow. Quickly reaching the front Jilliby Ballerini strode clear and unextended she defeated a gallant Gotfeelingsyouknow by metres with Bennie And The Jets making up a heap of ground to fun a very credible third.

Although living in the shadow of her illustrious stable mate Keayang Zahara there’s no doubt that Jilliby Ballerini isn’t that far behind. After an unsuccessful trip to New Zealand late last year she bounded back in spectacular fashion in the Cranbourne Trotters Cup on 3 January.
Chris Svanasio who tried to steal the race on Gotfeelingsyouknow actually prepared the dam of Jilliby Ballerini, Shesasundon to win five races in her 28 start career and running 2.00.4.
In her Bendigo Cup win Jilliby Ballerini ran 2.01.1 for the 2760 metre trip and running her final two quarters in 28.1 and 28.8 seconds respectively.
One assumes that eventually Jilliby Ballerini will have to meet Keayang Zahara and while no one is suggesting that she could beat her, Jilliby Ballerini will certainly try her heart out wherever she competes.
