A swag of harness racing winners in December has firmly established the Aldebaran Park sires Skyvalley NZ and Aldebaran Eagle USA among the top bracket of trotting sires in the country.

Skyvalley NZ left 12 individual winners for the month to lift his seasonal tally to 43 with stakes totalling $918,720, while Aldebaran Eagle USA sired seven winners during December to increase his seasonal total to 21 and his progeny earnings to $526,698.

Skyvalley NZ was ranked third on the all-aged winner’s list and fourth based on stakemoney, while Aldebaran Eagle USA finished seventh according to the number of winners and eighth on prizemoney.

The month of December produced some outstanding results by Aldebaran Park bred or sired performers in feature events across three different States.

The homebred two-year-old fillies Harperseven (Helpisontheway USA – Aldebaran Turnpike USA) and Aldebaran Ada (Brillantissime Fra – Aldebaran Aliza) and the Aldebaran Eagle USA three-year-old filly Gatesy’s Gem all captured heats of the Breeders Crown at Bendigo, with Gatesy’s Gem placing third in the Group 1 $60,000 Final.

The Skyvalley NZ mare Golden Sunset posted her 11th success for the season when she overcame a 10 metre handicap to win the Christmas Trotters Cup at Albion Park, while the homebred two-year-old gelding Ideology (Aldebaran Eagle USA – Aldebaran Crumpet), made it three wins from four starts in the Parker Classic at Globe Derby Park.

Ten Eagles (by Aldebaran Eagle USA) put the icing on the cake of a brilliant month with his success in the Listed $20,000 Southern Cross 2YO Final at Globe Derby.

Other Skyvalley NZ winners for the month were the Gloucester Park winner Patched (off a 50 metre handicap), Flash Kyvalley, who pushed his stake earnings past the $200,000 mark at Albion Park, Floating Mountain, Kyvalleyhoneybunny, Maximez (Tr 1:59.7), Castles In The Sky, Night Sky, Tamzen Rose, the two-year-old Stepbystep, the three-year-old filly Golden Skies and the homebred Aldebaran Anton (ex Backina Lifetime).

Skyvalley’s daughters left six individual winners for the month including star free-for-all trotter Im Bobby (1:58.4), the Melton victors Keayang Gypsy, Abbie (1:58.9) and Fouroutoffive 1:56.9 (ex Aldebaran Kiri), Straight To The Top and the Albion Park two-year-old winner African Gala.

Besides Gatesy’s Gem, Ideology and Ten Eagles, Aldebaran Eagle USA was represented by the homebred and part-owned Aldebaran Jensen (ex Endsino), the Melton two-year-old winner Cartacalcha, the Westport, NZ victor Transtasmanbubble and the pacer Huxham Chubb (1:55.3).

Aldebaran Park’s standing as one of the leading sources of trotting winners in the southern hemisphere was further illustrated with the farm bringing out 11 individual winners for the month.

The haul included the Albion Park winner Aldebaranstilinski (Sebastian K Swe – Aldebaran Sky), the Redcliffe Christmas Trotters Cup winner Hammer Son (Majestic Son Ca – Jingling Silver), the three-year-olds Aldebaranharlequin (Southwind Frank USA  -Hush Your Majesty) and Highly Rated NZ (Majestic Son Ca – Vacanza), a winner at Reefton, NZ as well as Father Ned (Father Patrick USA – Big O E NZ), who won on debut at Winton, NZ.

To complete a great month, the Aldebaran Park co-owned mare Aldebaran Susanne (What The Hill Ca – Cold Sister USA) took a new lifetime mark of 1:56.5 winning for the fifth time at Geelong.
