Aston Villa & Lunar Landing top awards

The annual Victorian Harness Racing Breeding Awards were held on Saturday for season 2014-15 at Shepparton Harness Racing Club.

Benstud Standardbreds Victorian Pacing Broodmare of the Year was presented to Lauriston Bloodstock for Aston Villa, who has produced Yankee Rockstar (Rocknroll Hanover), Yankee Showgirl (Bettors Delight) and Born To Rocknroll (Rocknroll Hanover) to date.

The Niota Bloodstock Victorian Trotting Broodmare of the Year was awarded to Dr Martin Hartnett for Lunar Landing, the famed dam of Spidergirl, Illawong Moonshine and Illawong Armstrong.

The Metro Printing Ian Daff Memorial Award was presented to Duncan McPherson, while Sue Wegmann won the prestigious Victorian Breeder of the Year Award sponsored by Woodlands Stud.

The Pacing and Trotting Sire of the Year Awards were presented by Pryde’s Easifeed and Niota Bloodstock.

Somebeachsomewhere took out the Victorian Pacing Sire of the Year honours, presented to Empire Stallions, while Stonegate Farm took out Trotting Sire of the Year with Armbro Invasion.
