Charlottetown, PE – Corey MacPherson kicked off the 2016 harness racing season with four winners Sunday at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
His victories included the afternoon feature aboard Idealic Life in 1:56.3. It was the pacer's fourth win in a row as he turned back stable-mate Painted Desert (Mark Bradley) giving trainer Trevor Hicken the one-two finish in the top class. Smiley Bayama (Ron Gass) was third. Idealic Life is owned by Perry, Luke and Robin Burke and Kent Livingston, PE. The grand-slam also included Thisgirlcanhunt for her second in a row from the Mike Ramsey stable, Best Risque for trainer Brian Ladner and Capitalism giving trainer Trevor Hicken the double.
In other news, Holy Molie Maggie won the open trot for Gary Chappell in an impressive 2:00 flat for owner-trainer Jeff Holmes.
Marc Campbell posted a driving triple on the 15 dash program while Chappell and Wade Sorrie enjoyed driving doubles to kick off the new season.
The wager was $47, 481.
