Charlottetown, PE – Harness racing driver Corey MacPherson has picked up in 2016 where he left off at the end of 2015 winning multiple races. The Vernon River native notched five winners Saturday at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
MacPherson had his first picture taken with Political Crisis from the Adam Merner stable and also rallied with Ron Gass trainees Im a Debutant and Hurricane Bill. The young pilot extended the winning streaks for Best Risque and Idealic Life to cap off a big afternoon at the office.
Best Risque delivered as the post time favorite after making a three high move in the early going to take control of the race in the open mares handicap pace. The mare, trained by Brian Ladner, charted her fourth in a row winning by a length over Outrageous Spirit (Gordon Hennessey) in 2:00.3 for her 48th lifetime score.
Idealic Life moved his winning streak up to six in a row after being sent to the front from outside post seven to drive away on his rivals in a snazzy 1:57 flat that included a closing panel of 28.2 seconds. The horse is trained by Trevor Hicken for owners Perry Burke, Grosse-Ile, QC, Luke Burke, Pleasant Grove, Robin Burke, Ten Mile House and Kent Livingston, Cornwall, PE.
January 23rd and January 30th are the final two cards of the winter meet. Post times will be slated for 12:30pm.
