The first of the Auckland Reactor yearlings to be sold in New Zealand went through the sales ring at the Australasian Classic Yearling Sale at Karaka this morning.
The first one through was Lot 7 named Chase Auckland and he was offered on account of Tony and Anne Parker, the breeders of Auckland Reactor.
Chase Auckland had created quite a stir pre sale with many of the buyers who inspected him rating him in the top handful of colts in the whole sale.
A lot of nervous moments as you would expect from the Alabar Stud and JC International representatives present as they waited to see how the buyers bench received their new stallion.
Well they needn't have worried in the least as the buyers threw caution to the wind and when the dust had settled, Chase Auckland had found a new home with Auckland Reactor's former trainer Mark Purdon.
It was a huge boost for the connections of Auckland Reactor to have the best judge in the yearling sales business in Mark Purdon purchase the first colt that was sold in New Zealand.
Chase Auckland had plenty to recommend him on the pedigree page being the first foal from the race winning Falcon Seelster mare Delicata who is a half sister to the outsanding two and three year old Hug The Wind 1:52.6 ($311,203) and a half sister to the dam of the star Western Australian three year old Sprinter 1:54 ($183,340).
The Australasian Classic sale has started really strongly this year with plenty of $60,000 – $75,000 yearlings changing hands and if that early trend continues, the vendors look to be in for a very profitable day.
