CHESTER, PA – Bill's Man, who equaled a divisional track record the last time he raced at Harrah's Philadelphia – though the record only lasted three days – came back to the southeast Pennsylvania oval Thursday and won the $18,000 trotting feature in 1:53.1.
The victorious four-year-old Credit Winner entire had to go uncovered from entering the second turn against tough foe Moonshiner Hanover, who put up early fractions of 27.1 and 56.2.
Bill's Man had joined him before the 1:24.3 ¾ and the two were in a virtual "match race" most of the last quarter, with Bill's Man edging clear by a length for driver Corey Callahan, trainer John Butenschoen, and the ownership of Crawford Farms Racing, M And L Of Delaware LLC, and VIP Internet Stable LLC.
The last time Bill's Man raced here, he won in 1:52.1, equaling the Philly standard previously set by two pretty good trotters named Chapter Seven and Father Patrick.
That was on a Thursday; that Sunday Guardian Angel AS further reduced the mark to 1:52 (and himself has since come back to reduce his own Phl standard to 1:50.4). But they don't pay anything extra for records, and Bill's Man has won $662,074 for his owning triumvirate.
