July 9, 2017 – Veteran classmaster Up And Quick (9m Buvetier d’Aunou-Fichtre) survived a speed duel early before taking the lead after 400 meters for driver Franck Nivard, and the race was over.
This Prix de la Communaute de Comaunes (Gr. II, 1609 meters autostart, purse €100,000) was a rare on-mile dash for speed and Up And Quick did not disappoint with his 1.10.2kr victory, the mile rate 1:52.89.
Franck Leblanc trains the winner for Ecurie Quick Star and the victory today took the winners’ career earnings to €2,042,040 with 15 wins including a Prix d’Amerique.
Billie de Montfort (6f Jasmin de Flore-Quismy de Montfort), at 3.8/1, rallied nicely to be second for driver David Thomain, trainer Sebastien Guraato and owner/breeder Philippe Dauphin, and the aforementioned early leader, 20/1 Breidabliks Nubbe (5m Lindy Lane-Wildgirl Boshoeve) held third for driver Marc Elias and trainer Conrad Lugauer.
Booster Winner and Ave Avis were the next to reaching the line.
