SUMMERSIDE, PE – Euchred scored a career moment while vanquishing his harness racing rivals in the Sunday afternoon featured at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
Corey MacPherson was at the lines of the Walter Walker trainee as the eight-year-old son of Shadow Play completed his 60th career win in the $2,700 featured pace. Sent off as the betting favourite, Euchred grabbed the lead in the afternoon feature and waltzed through splits of 27.3, 56 and 1:25.1 before kicking home for a 1:54.4 victory. Heart And Soul (Driven by Jason Hughes) finished second while Hunger Pangs (Dale Spence) completed the triactor. Kayla Habicht-Walker of Inverness, N.S., holds the ownership papers of the winning pacer.
Spence had a driving quadruple on the afternoon winning with Brandons Glory in 1:57.1 and Mando Fun in 1:57.2, both for conditioner MacKenzie MacInnis, as well as with Brydown Arrow in 1:59.3 off the front for owner Shannon Sellick of O'Leary. JK Cowboy dead heated for the win in race 4 for driver Spence and trainer Greg MacInnis, hitting the wire in 1:58.1 at the same time as Flash In The Pang (Ken Murphy).
