The third day of the NZB Standardbred’s 2020 National Standardbred Yearling Sale has finished at Canterbury Agricultural Park
Bettor's Delight,Captaintreacherous and Art Major the top selling sires at Karaka were well represented again and there was high interest in a variety of sires and well performed bloodlines today.
The top lot today was Lot 243 Moet Shard (Bettor's Delight – Pemberton Shard) with a massive bid of $280'000 acquiring the filly. She has a top bloodline to back up a big sale price with the likes of Mach Shard and Smiling Shard involved here.

Lot 387 Ohoka Toa (Bettor's Delight – Idolise) Out of a half sister to Dibaba, this colt is from the family of The Fascinator,Twist And Twirl and King Of Swing. The hammer came down at $100'000
Lot 380 Frank Burns (Somebeachsomewhere – Go One Bettor) A descendent of top race mare One Dream out of a sister to Sole Ambition. This good looking colt went for $57'500
Lot 373 Dream Prospect (Bettor's Delight – Follow The Dream) Out of a sister to Western Cullen this colt sold for $90'000
Lot 372 Let's Fly Together (Art Major – Flying Mrs Williams) Closely related to smart two year and three year old Flying Even Bettor and also on the page Mighty Flying Thomas and Flying Pocketlands who have both been success stories across Australasia. This colt sold for $115'000
Lot 369 Ultimate Missile (Bettor's Delight – Ideal Reality) The first foal out of a half sister to Ulimate Machete and Ultimate Sniper. This colt sold for $210'000
Lot 363 Republican Party (Bettor's Delight – Democrat Party) This very good looking colt form the top mare Democrat Party was the subject of some very strong bidding and ended up selling for $210'000

He goes for $60'000
Lot 356 Dream Breaker (Art Major – Christian Dreamer) is a bottler from a dam who has produced Amazing Dream ($200'000k to date) and Chase The Dream who won the sires stakes and New Zealand Sapling Stakes. He attracts large bids and finally sells for $160'000
Lot 354. Manyara (Rock N Roll Heaven – Christian Watch ) is a well bred colt with both Code Black and Tiffany Rose close up. He is passed in for $25'000
Lot 347 Arden's Horizon (Bettor's Delight – Arden's Rose) sells for $55'000 for Arden Lodge.
Lot 344 Beaudiene Breanna (Captaintreacherous – Beaudiene Delightful ) continues the strong southern form at the sale and goes for $65'000 her pedigree can be found here.
Lot 340 Matt Major. (Art Major – Break Dance) is a 3/4 to current Southland star in Kilowatt Kid. He looks the part and brings $50'000
Lot 337 Emmy (Bettor's Delight -De Lovely) is a sister to Cole Porter who was an early runner for the Geoff Dunn stable. She brings $47'500 to the bid of Jean Feiss
Lot 329 Amazem (Bettor's Delight – Crushem) is a 1/2 to Spankem and gathers enough interest for a bid of $45'000 which is accepted. We sell people we sell!
Lot 328 Aiming For Glory (Bettor's Delight – Breath Of Life) continues the strong run of top bred fillies at these sales and goes for a strong $80'000
Lot 326 Irish Legend (Bettor's Delight – Banshee) gores back to the good race mare in Tatijana Bromac and sells for $50'000
Lot 322 Diamond Solitaire (Art Major – Asabella) is another filly from a dam that has been superb as a broodmare producing the likes of Code Red and Ohoka's Bondy. A bid of $50'000 isn't enough and the filly is passed in. A possible sale later?
Lot 313 Five Bangles (Bettor's Delight – Beaudiene Bad Babe) is one of the better southern bred lots and it's reflected in the bids registered for the filly. A starting bid of $50'000 isn't enough and soon enough we're into fairly uncharted territory. A bid of $220'000 finally secures the filly. Filly photo below
Lot 307 Major Grace (Art Major – Zariya) goes for $48'000, the filly is closely related to both Pacing Major and Grace Way who has produced a number of Australian performers.
Lot 304 Lucca (American Ideal – Black Raine) brings $20'000 which is arguably a surprise given the family has produced the likes of Jewels winner Venus Serena and NZ Derby winner Sheriff. It's a proven family and proven sire. Good buying there.
Lot 289 Arden Ubeaut (Sweet Lou – Winter Rose) brings good blood to the page and is rewarded with a sound $72'500
Lot 281 Ajira (Bettor's Delight – Allura) descending from the good race mare Nevermore(2nd Dam). This colt fetched $80'000
Lot 279 Franco Lomu (Art Major – The Legend) out of a sister to champion pacer Bit Of A Legend sells for $80'000
Lot 276 Taieri Express (Bettor's Delight – Tandias Bromac) is out of the good racemare Tandias Bromac and this filly sells for $60'000.
Lot 272 Akuta (Bettor's Delight – Adore To Our Dreams) The first colt from a well bred family. Akuta sells for $170'000 and comes from a family that includes the 1996 Sires Stakes winner Franco Enforce.
Lot 271 Van Shard (Art Major – Shards Echo) From the family of Mach Shard, Smiling Shard and Pemberton Shard this colt fetched $70'000
Lot 263 Take A Bow (Captaintreacherous – The Fascinator) comes out of a family that is very current indeed with Dibaba and King Of Swing featuring on the page. The filly brings $45'000
Lot 250 Arden Believer (Somebeachsomewhere – Real Wings) goes for $37'500 interesting to note the muted response for his progeny but the fever-pitch action on progeny of his son in Captaintreacherous.

Lot 237 Fernleigh Blackbird (He's Watching – New Revenue) has enough on the page and sells for $16'000
Hard work recently with a number of lots being passed in. Will be interesting to see how the medium holds up with a good top line and limited "mid" types at the moment.
Lot 232 Drifting Star (A Rocknroll Dance – Petra's Star) has real southern form to call upon ith Galactic Star now sweeping all before him in Western Australia. The dam-line goes back to Lillian but he can't spark interest and is passed in for just $6'000. That looks like a missed opportunity.
Lot 227 Captain DJ (Captaintreacherous – One Dream) has one of the best performed dams in the book. Mix that with the sire, who has seen very strong support during the sale, and you have a compelling argument to see a bidding war. That indeed happened with the colt going for a sum of $175'000
Lot 224 Nirvana Franco (Bettor's Delight – Nearea Franco) is royally bred and brings $100'000. The filly has a lot to live up to with Nike Franco out of the class dam also.
Lot 218 Melton Beach (Sunshine Beach – Miss Sunshine) attracts good interest for the sire and goes for $45'000 to the bid of Mark Jones.
Lot 215 Jackpot Joe (Bettor's Delight – Motu Pocket O'Jewels) brings a pocket full of dosh for vendors and goes for $120'000
Lot 213 Easy As Major (Art Major – Miss Elsie) Goes for $50'000 and continues the strong support that Art Major has recieved from buyers during the sale.
Lot 210 Ohoka Creed (Captain Treacherous- Millwood Ivy) is the first lot by the boom sire through the ring and brings high interest finally be acquired for $105'000
Lot 202 Strength And Honour (Bettor's Delight – Luminesce) threatens to pass the current top figure and gets to $150'000 to the bid of Phil Kennard. It's the family of One Dream.
Lot 197 Major Perry (Art Major – Katy Perry) blasts past the 100'000 dollar mark on his way to a big bid of $160'000 with Barry Purdon securing the colt.It's a "Black Watch" maternal line that has done very good things lately.
Lot 195 Wagon Wheel (Bettor's Delight- Jen Marie) is a full brother to NZ Derby winner Sheriff and goes for $60'000 Jen Marie has also left the Australian perfomrer in Wrangler. You can check the pedigree here
Lot 187 Lochart Shard (Bettor's Delight- Lady Gaga and Lot 189 Kalasa (Bettor's Delight- Kashana) bring the sale to life after a slow start with both being sold for $50'000. The Bettor's Delight factor in full effect and backed up by some very nice bloodlines on the maternal lines.
