Washington, PA, Feb. 10, 2020 — Explosive Magic let Cherry Peep do the heavy lifting, then roared passed her in the lane to capture Monday's harness racing feature at The Meadows, a $13,500 Conditioned Trot.
Cherry Peep cut three-quarters in 1:58, a moderate tempo under ordinary circumstances but one that left her vulnerable on the sloppy surface. The pocket-sitting Explosive Magic and Dave Palone took full advantage, pouncing on Cherry Peep and downing her by 1/2 length in 1:57.2. Tequila Talkin rallied for show.
Ron Burke trains Explosive Magic, a 4-year-old Explosive Matter-Magical Paige gelding who lifted his lifetime bankroll to $106,974, for Burke Racing Stable and Weaver Bruscemi LLC.
Aaron Merriman and Palone each piloted three winners on the 13-race card.
Live racing at The Meadows continues Tuesday when the program features a trio of rich wagering opportunities: a $13,851.10 carryover in the final-race Super Hi-5; a $5,000 total-pool guarantee in the Pick 4 (races 3-6); a $1,783.16 carryover in the Pick 5 (races 2-6). First post is 1:05 PM.
