Brilliant Auckland Reactor gelding Reactor Now went within 0.2 of the track record in his emphatic win at Shepparton on Saturday night (September 5).
Starting from the pole, the four-year-old led in the early part, then handed up before retaking the front in the first lap. He was never again headed.
He clocked closing fractions of 27.4 and 28 – figures which he could have sharply improved.
The mile rate for the 1690 metres was 1:52.8.
The win kept his unbeaten record in tact at the Kialla track
Reactor Now boasts a lifetime record of 15 starts for 11 wins and $78,930 in stakes.
Bred by Bruce and Vicki Edward, the big gelding is out of the American-bred mare Who’s Sorry Now (1:59), a Western Ideal mare who has produced three sub 1:56 winners from three starters.
Auckland Reactor is standing this season at the St Fort stud, Moama, of Tony Peacock.
