Thanks to Thomas H. Hicks, treasurer and national director of the Florida Chapter of the United States Harness Writers Association (USHWA), who this past week hand delivered the remaining trophies to their respective award winners.
Due to Covid-19 the annual Florida Harness Racing Hall of Fame dinner was cancelled last year and could not be held this year, and the chapter members decided to go to the racetrack, training centers and breeding farms to deliver the awards in person.
This past week, Thomas H. Hicks, with his wife/photographer Kathleen, traveled first to Sunshine Meadows Equestrian Village and presented Frank āThe Elderā Antonacci with his Hall of Fame induction trophy.
Then it was off to Pompano Park, where the Hicks presented long time horse owner, breeder and amateur driver Laurie Poulin with her Hall of Fame induction trophy.
The final stop of the week was again at Pompano Park. Tom Hicks made the last presentation to Kim Sears at her training center and breeding farm. Kim was presented with the William Popfinger Award for her excellence in training young pacers.
The members of the Florida Chapter of USHWA appreciate the above and beyond efforts by Thomas H Hicks traveling to deliver the awards in person.
