The 2025 WomenCan Team Teal harness racing campaign officially came to a close on Saturday 15 March, and Club Menangle is proud to announce that a total of $11,400 has been raised. $6,400 has been raised from the success at our Track with an additional $5,000 coming from the incredible generosity of Cheryl and Colin McDowell.
Team Teal aims to raise funds and awareness for gynaecological cancer research and ANZGOG’s research and education program, Survivors Teaching Students.
Across the Team Teal period, which spans from 1 February to 15 March, Club Menangle committed to donating $200 for every female training win and every female driving win that was recorded on our track.
A total of 32 ‘teal’ wins were recorded by female participants at Club Menangle.
Bruce Christison Chief Executive Officer at Club Menangle said “A fantastic result has been achieved by WomenCan Team Teal at our track with 32 wins throughout the campaign.
A big thank you has to be extended to all female participants who were the key driving figures behind another successful Team Teal campaign.
At the start of the campaign I received a call from the McDowell’s who said they wanted to contribute $5,000 to whatever total we could raise on track. This is typical of Cheryl and Colin who have been incredible supporters of harness racing but are even more generous when it comes to helping out a great cause like this and we cannot thank them enough.”
Team Teal was showcased on one of harness racing’s most iconic stages, The TAB Carnival of Miracles, with nine teal wins added to the tally across the two nights.
Victorian-based trainer Emma Stewart recorded nine Club Menangle wins throughout the six-week campaign, including the Group One NSW Derby Final win of Always Hot on Garrards Miracle Mile Night.
Kate Gath also secured a driving double on Garrards Miracle Mile Night when she partnered Dont Stop Dreaming NZ to victory in the Group 2 Ainsworth Australian Light Horse FFA and Showmethetanlines NZ in the Group 3 Multiquip Aggregates Sapling Stakes.
