With Westbred the theme of the night there will be nothing but westbred horses gracing the track on Friday, September 6 at Gloucester Park, with the two and three-year-old Westbred Classics highlighting the exciting harness racing program.
There were two colts and geldingsā heats run on Monday, August 26 at Pinjarra for the three-year-old Westbred Classic, with the top six of each heat going through to next weeks $100,000 final.
For the colts and geldings, Bet The House for Ron Huston and Chris Voak took out the first of the heats, with punters extremely confident in the impressive three-year-old.
In a winning mile rate of 1:57:1, the Caduceus Classic (Gr3) winner continued his good form, leading all the way in his heat to take top spot over Ideal Muscle (Aiden De Campo) Blaze Away (Michael Young/Gary Hall Jnr) and Atlas The Titan (Gary Hall Snr/Stuart McDonald), Arion Rock (Simone Strachan/Deni Roberts) and Worlds Above (Peter Anderson/Trent Wheeler) who all go through to next weeks $100,000 final.
2YO Sales Classic winner Waverider apparently lost a shoe in the run, but that didnāt bother the impressive youngster, who led all the way in the second heat for the colts and geldings.
Trained by Ryan Bell and driven by Deni Roberts, Waverider resumed racing 10 days ago after three months away from the track, finishing third in an open 3YO at Gloucester Park behind Water Lou and Blaze Away.
āHeās pulled up very well.
āIt was nice to see him have a soft run for once.ā Bell said
āBarring bad luck between now and then, Iām very happy with the horse and the prep has been perfect.
āIt will be barrier draw dependant between a few of them for sure.
āAll our fingers are crossed hoping it falls our way.ā
Peter Anderson will have two runners in next weeks feature, with Rox The World finishing just 2.8m behind Waverider, driven by Trent Wheeler, with Maximum Rock (Chris Voak), Petes Honour (Jemma Hayman/Chris Lewis), Miki Made Monty (Jocelyn Young) and Caberneigh (Barry Howlett/Emily Suvaljko) filling the final spots of next weeks final.
Grevis and On The Back Foot will be the two emergencies for the boys.
The barrier draw will take place live at Pinjarra after the last race on Monday September 2.
