On Sunday night, Jackson Neptune (Auckland Reactor) recorded his fourth harness racing win of the season with a dominant win in Launceston.
The gelded son of Auckland Reactor raced outside the leader. Although inclined to over race for driver Jacob Duggan, he was able to sprint away from his rivals to record a 5.4m win over Mia Ragazza and Blue Label in a mile rating of 1m 59.5s for theĀ rating 54 to 63 eventĀ over 2200m.
Trainer Heath Szczypka now has to work out future plans with the gelding that is climbing in the national rating system.
āHe keeps doing a terrific job.
āIām unsure what to do with him or where to go.
āHe ran a good race behind those good horses last week (De Goey and Nyack). I know he got beat 30 meters, but he wasnāt that far away from the fourth horse.
āIf he is close enough to them in those high-class races, he will be competitive, but he is really only a Friday night horse, and they donāt have them in the higher ratings so we will persevere with a junior driver claim and sees what happens,ā said the trainer.
āI will just keep going along with him, I have no real plans with him other than to give him a break at some stage, but he is still going well and paying his way,ā added Szczypka.
The win was the second leg of a driving double for Duggan, who had success earlier in the night with Somedan, who had a lovely run behind the leader before getting out in plenty of time to win theĀ second race of the program.
Somdan was one of five winners on the card for leading trainer Ben Yole, who also had success with Fearless Stride and Oneofthelads (both driven by Nathan Ford), along with Cinocal Jamane (Dylan Ford) and Going Great Guns (Ryan Backhouse).
