Competing against just three harness racing rivals, Ah Amigo (For A Reason) caused an upset by beating $2.10 shot Sportsflight.
Running second has become a habit for Sportsflight, which has been the bridesmaid in each of his four starts!
Antiguas Be Be was four metres away third in 2:02.2 over 1800 metres.
For Ah Amigo, however, the victory marked a perfect debut for the six-year-old son of For A Reason.
āHeās had a lot of tendon issues which is why he hadnāt raced until this week,ā Gill said. āSo to see him come out and win at his first start is very satisfying.
āIām over in Victoria at the moment to pick up another horse, so he has come for the ride to act as the travel Amigo on the way home.
āOnce we get back I will aim him at another suitable race in a couple of weeks.ā
