The All Bets Off filly Simply The Best scored a dominant win in the $75,000 Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots Final for three-year-old fillies at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Saturday (September 27).
Starting from the No. 5 gate, the filly settled down in third position before being given her marching orders just past the three-eighths mark to spear into the vanguard. She was never again headed.
Simply The Best had 3-1/4 lengths to spare at the end of the mile in a sharp 1:51.2.
She has won 10 of her 24 starts and $111,716 in stakes.
Meanwhile, Summa Cum Laude, this year’s leading first crop sire in North America, was credited with two placegetters in the $300,000 Finals of the Ohio Sires Stakes Championships for two-year-olds at Dayton Raceway on the same night.
When Is Parade finished runner-up in the colts and geldings’ division in 1:51.4 and Laude Da ran third in the fillies’ final in 1:51.8.
The frozen semen for All Bets Off and Summa Cum Laude is available to Australian breeders this season from Tourello Standardbreds in northern Tasmania.
