American Ideal colt tops Sydney sale

The highest priced lot at today’s Nutrien Sydney Sale was an American Ideal colt that sold for $150,000.

Purchasers Edward and Michelle Caruana outlaid the six-figure sum for the colt that is out of the Art Major mare Beninjurd making him a full-brother to Centenario and a half-brother to Tough Tilly and Lightning Dan.

The American Ideal/Beninjurd colt that topped the Sydney sale.

The highest-priced filly at the sale was a daughter of Sweet Lou out of the Art Major mare Deadly Woman.

Bred by Sloys Company, the filly was sold for $85,000.

Of the 99 lots, 86 were sold (86.87 per cent) with an average sale price of $38,350 and gross of $3,298,182.

This was the first year Nutrien Equine held a standardbred yearling sale at Sydney’s Inglis Riverside Stables.

The next Nutrien Standardbred Yearling Sale will be held in Melbourne at Oaklands Junction on April 3.
