A dashing drive from Amy Day paved the way for her first cup success as a harness racing trainer when Dance Away (A Rocknroll Dance) proved too strong for his rivals in the Ararat Pacing Cup.
Sent out a well-supported $1.80 favorite, Dance Away enjoyed the run of the race in the one out one back trail for much of the race before Day decided to make her move with 400 metres to travel.
The son of A Rocknroll Dance quickly put a gap on his rivals and careered away rounding the home turn to score comfortably by seven metres from Sweet Passion with Springfield Affair 10 metres away third.

“It’s my first cup win as a trainer and I’m just stoked that I could the result for Bruce Treuer who has been a great supporter from day dot for me,” Day said.
Day said the race panned out well for Dance Away when she was able to secure a trail.
“I did think there was going to be a bit of speed early and I was just focused on keeping my horse balanced so I could get a forward position,” she said.
“Lochie Cook has been driving Springfield Affair fairly solid and I thought he’d make a move at some stage and it just gave us the run of the race to be honest.”
Day is looking forward to monitoring Dance Away’s rise through the classes in the coming months.
“I think the horse runs better fresh and he had a week between runs tonight which was good,” she said.
“I think he is a horse that follows the speed so it will be interesting to see how he goes forward up in grade.”
