Another Kilmore Cup chapter to be written

Another chapter will be written in Kilmore’s famous cups legacy tomorrow night, when outstanding fields will present for this year’s pacing and trotting titles.

The long-distance stoushes have drawn many of Victoria’s leading lights and Kilmore Racing Club CEO Ben Murphy said it was great reaffirmation of the races’ standing.

“That’s how we as a club perceive it, as one of the best races in the state if not the country, and we want to keep working on the standard of it, working with industry about how we enhance the stature of the race, and we are incredibly proud of the race and incredibly proud of the races we have Friday night,” Murphy told SEN Track’s Trots LIfe.

“The participants always said it was important, how much they valued the Kilmore Pacing Cup, and for us it was about how do we do our role? How do we get that back up?

“And I think the support and the way this program’s panned out suggests we are doing something that’s helping, and that’s what we want to do.”

Grand Circuit contenders Amazing Dream and Triple Eight will square off with the likes of General Dodge, Out To Play, Western Sonador and Mach Dan in the Jet Roofing Kilmore Pacing Cup. To view all the fields for Kilmore on Friday night click here.

The $80,000 Group 2s stakes will only be heightened by the fact competitors are also attempting to reinforce their bona fides a tick over a fortnight out from the October 9 Pryde’s EasiFeed Victoria Cup.

“Now the Cup is two weeks before the Vic Cup and (it’s also) two weeks before the Derby you can see the support we have got through Amazing Dream, after a short break after a really strong and successful winter campaign, wants to come and race in the pacing cup.

“And American Dealer in the Reg Withers Classic, which has really picked up and enhanced that race. And then you look at the trotters cup, they’re deep fields all through the night and the support of participants is fantastic.”

Among those are Well Defined, who will start off 20 metres for Kate Hargreaves, and Maori Law, who will join Red Hot Tooth and McLovin on the backmark for Emmett and Richard Brosnan.

Kate and Emmett also joined Trots Life. Listen to their interviews below:
