The past 18 months has been his best in the harness racing career of 22-year-old driver Sydney reinsman Will Rixon.
On Saturday night at Tabcorp Park Menangle, the reigning Club Menangle Medal winner brought up yet another highlight when he bagged his first winning treble at a Metropolitan meeting.
Making the most of the opportunities afforded to him, Rixon combined with Goulburn trainer Brad Hewitt to win two races on Saturday night, partnering ex kiwi pair Taipo and Anna Love to comfortable wins.
With Hewitt unavailable to take the drives, Ā it was a real vote of confidence from the stable to hand Rixon the reins and he did not disappoint with his drive on Anna Love, being one of the best witnessed at the Menangle track for quite some time.
Rixonās third winner on the night was the trotter Watts Up Majestic for trainer Rickie Alchin.
First up from a spell on Saturday night, Watts Up Majestic scorched home from a trailing position to run home over the top of a class field and secure a two metre victory.
āIt was great night at the office,ā said Rixon.
āI went to the track fairly confident that I had a few realistic winning chances, but to walk away with a treble was sensational.
āBoth of Bradās horses gave me a great feel and were really strong in winning, while the trotter had a beautiful run in transit and has come back in great fashion following a spell.ā
Rixonās attention turns to Bankstown this afternoon where the club will conduct its annual TAB Carnival of Cups meeting, headlined by the running of the $50,000 Club Condell Park MH Treuer Memorial.
The Treuer Memorial is a much sort after feature on Sydneyās harness racing calendar and Rixon will be doing his level best to add the time-honoured event to his list of credits when he partners the Tony Bertwistle trained gelding Ardens Ace.
Ardens Ace is coming off a last start third in the Goulburn Cup behind Swayzee where he was beaten by fifteen metres in fast time and he gets his chance from gate three in an open affair.
āHe is a nice horse, that is racing well at the moment,ā said Rixon.
āHis run in the Goulburn Cup was good and with the right run today he should figure in the finish.ā
