Saturday’s Australian Pacing Gold Sydney Sale represents the last chance for buyers to purchase an APG yearling this year.
Fortunately for buyers, APG may have saved the best ‘till last, as there is little doubt the sale represents the strongest line-up of horses ever assembled in Sydney, as demonstrated by the following table.

Besides coming from outstanding maternal families, the sire power on offer this weekend is truly amazing, with over three-quarters of the catalogue sired by stallions which were among the top six money-earning stallions on one of the sire charts in Australia, New Zealand or North America last season.
Rock N Roll Heaven leads the way with 25 yearlings, followed closely by Art Major with 23, Rocknroll Hanover with 21, and Mach Three with 20. Somebeachsomewhere and Courage Under Fire each have 15 yearlings in the sale, while Roll With Joe, Bettors Delight and Sportswriter are the other stallions to be represented by more than five yearlings.
Last year’s crop of two-year-olds to emerge from the Sydney Sale included NSW Two-Year-Old Colt of the Year, Artistic Flite, NSW Two-Year-Old Filly of the Year, Bamako Mali, and Victorian Two-Year-Old Colt of the Year, Kept Under Wraps, while last weekend’s Pink Bonnet winner, Abettorrose, is a graduate of last year’s Sydney Sale.
Yearlings will begin arriving at the Newmarket Sales Complex from Thursday, but the best inspection times are likely to be on the Friday (from 11am onwards), or early on the Saturday morning.
APG will provide breakfast from 8 to 10am on Saturday, and encourages all potential buyers to arrive as early as possible on Saturday to allow plenty of time to register to bid and conduct their inspections before the sale begins at 11am.
Photos, videos and links to vendor websites for many of the yearlings are available for viewing on the APG website by clicking here.
