Harness racing’s Australian Pacing Gold Yearling Sales will not go ahead in Sydney or Melbourne next year.
Directors of APG suspended the sales due to not enough vendor interest and reluctantly according to Chairman Robert Marshall.
“In the same way that some of our once-loyal vendors have indicated that they would be choosing their sales company in 2023 based purely on a ‘business decision’, APG has determined, for the same reason, to step away from sales in NSW and Victoria for the time being,” Marshall said.
“APG will review its position in NSW and Victoria following the conclusion of the 2023 sales with a view to once again offering sales in both Melbourne and Sydney if sufficient support exists for APG to one again sustainably fund a first-class sale and industry-leading race series.
“Some will be very disappointed by this news.
“We too are disappointed but hope that vendors will re-think the benefits of supporting an industry owned not-for-profit sales company in 2024 and beyond.”
APG will still hold sales in Queensland and Western Australia in 2023 and are calling for nominations.
