Arrhythmia gets APG, Breeders Crown double

Classy filly Arrhythmia (Vincent) made amends for her surprise loss last week when she led all the way to take out the Group 2 Hyland Racing Colours Breeders Crown for two year old harness racing fillies at Melton on Saturday.

The race and subsequent events were delayed up to 40 minutes when there was lightning and heavy rain showers which may have unsettled some of the youngsters.

However Arrhythmia had no such issues with driver Cameron Hart allowing to take up the running from stable mate One Millie who elected to take the trail.

Bettor Beach who had upset Arrhythmia in her Heat last week was one wide early but driver Kate Gath elected to go three wide along the back straight but she was starting to paddle on the final bend. One Millie who had the perfect run tried to issue a challenge on straightening but Arrhythmia packed too many guns for One Millie by just under three metres with Willows Girl finishing on fairly for third.

Trainer Emma Stewart had seven of the twelve finalists and was able to take out the first five placings. Earlier she had success with Captain Perfect in the three year old Breeders Final and she also took out the opening event with top pacer Petracca (Captaintreacherous) who won the open class in style.

Driver Cameron Hart was full of praise for Arrhythmia after the event.

She had a hard run in the VicBred two year old final. She was huge for a two year old filly. It took its toll on her (in last weeks run). They looked after her going into the final. She was spot on tonight. Full credit to Emma she was just so sharp. I didn’t let her go to sleep as much in the Heat. She was on the job the whole way tonight. She got out of the gate nice and sharp. She was on the bit I was able to control that first part of the race. Once Kate’s filly moved around I was confident enough I had a nice easy lead. She felt really sharp tonight along the back straight. I didn’t let her knock off. When I asked her to go at the 400 she had that turn of foot that’s she’d shown in her previous starts.

She gives me a great feel I just love the racehorse she is. Obviously showed that toughness in the VicBred Final and tonight she exploded away with that good turn of foot.

I think she can make a good Oaks Filly she’s got all of the manners and all of the ability and hopefully we could have some big wins in her three year old year.

It proved to be a great night for Hart as he guided Petracca earlier in the evening to an easy all the way win in the Open Class. Then later on he teamed up with star filly Beach Diamond (Somebeachsomewhere) who despite a hard run was too classy winning the Nutrine Equine Breeders Classic for three year old fillies.

For Stewart the night got better as in addition to Beach Diamond she trained brilliant colt Loucasso (Sweet Lou) to win the IRT Breeders Crown for two year colts and geldings and in doing so made a clean sweep of all of the Pacers Breeders Crown Series.
