Atomic Blast, a four-year-old son of Auckland Reactor, earned a new speed badge of 1:52.6 winning at Harrah’s Philadelphia on Monday (September 7).
The gelding led from the outset carving out fractions of 27.2, 28.6, 28 and 28.8.
It was his second success from four starts in America and his third win from seven lifetime starts. He had earlier won in 1:52.8 at Pocono Downs.
Atomic Blast is the first foal of the Christian Cullen mare Caroline’s Cullen (1:51.4), who won 10 races in NZ and Australia and a further 17 in North America and finished up with a stake tally of $450,140.
She was imported back to NZ at the end of her racetrack career by well known Auckland standardbred agent and breeder John Curtin.

Auckland Reactor is now standing at Tony Peacock’s St Fort stud, Moama (NSW), on the Murray River.
