Classy four year old Attachment (Sunshine Beach) scored a well deserved harness racing win  In the Group 2 $76,500 QBred Triad four year old final for entires and geldings at Albion Park.

Attachment had been racing consistently in top company recently and he lost the Hayden on protest which would have given him automatic entry in the forthcoming Eureka at Menangle in September.

But last night there were no hiccups for Attachment as from barrier 3 he went straight to the front as expected. Stable mate Dele Row commenced fast but didn’t have the pace to match and he was left racing outside the leader.

Driver Pete McMullen was not tested out in front although Fact Finder made a run three wide to race alongside Attachment with a lap left to travel.

Hot Rod Harry who was behind the leader chased home Attachment but found the latter too strong and he prevailed by five metres with Cosmic Flyer in third. Over the 2138 metres Attachment rated 1.55.9 with an impressive last quarter of 26.8 seconds.

After the event McMullen indicated that he would be happy to accept an invite from a slot holder for one of the remaining positions left for the $2.1 million feature at Menangle on September 6. He also indicated his QBred success was one of his best wins this season.

He also added that he considered that the 2300 metres trip of the Eureka would present no problems for Attachment.

Obviously he has a nervous wait hoping that Attachment obtains a run in the world’s richest harness race.

McMullen was denied the double in the following event when his smart mare Rylee Rhayne Bow just failed to hold off La Derniere (Hurrikane Kingcole) in the $76,500 QBred Triad four year old final for mares. Rylee Rayne Bow led but La Derniere who was behind the leader gained an inside run and in the shadows of the post snatched victory.
