Dreams came true for New South Wales training partnership Joe and Mary Rando at Tabcorp Park Menangle on Saturday night.
They caused the biggest upset of the night when their talented trotter Timothy Red emerged through the pack to win the second heat of the Inter Dominion Trotting Championships.

At starting odds of $41, the son of Muscle Hill was just having start number 15.
To top it off, Timothy Red’s mile rate for the 2400m qualifier was 1:57 – a new Australasian record!
“It feels surreal, to run the times he’s run and break the record too,” said Joe Rando.
“He’s just the best and he’s the best horse I’ve ever trained.
“He is right where we want him for the series and that was just his 15h start . . . it’s just amazing for a horse to do this.”
Driven by Cameron Hart in the $20,000 qualifier, he settled Timothy Red four-back on the pegs after starting from barrier two.
One of the race fancies Tough Monarch led the charge in front before the favourite Pink Galahs moved her way to sit outside the leader.
The lead time was 57 and the quarters were then 30.4, 30.3, 27.7 and 29.2 seconds to create that Australasian record mile rate.
Timothy Red won by more than three metres with Kyvalley Chief second and Pink Galahs third.
“You dream of these wins as a kid, it’s the pinnacle of our sport and to achieve a win at such a young age is special,” said Hart.
“I know this horse has a lot of ability but thought he could be 12 months’ away from racing in a series like this.”

It was equally as special for Mary Rando.
“It was very special and we are just so proud of Timothy,” said Mary Rando.
“He’s come a long way in a short time.”
The Randos picked Timothy Red out at the Australasian Premier Trotting Sale in Victoria in 2018 with owner Rob Davis.
