Glen Craven predicts a bright future for Rubins Plight (Western Terror) after the four-year-old scored an authoritative harness racing win in the Isuzu Max 4YO Pace at Ballarat tonight (Jul. 29).
Sent out a $1.80 favorite, Rubins Plight settled mid field in the running line before Craven executed a successful dash for the lead with a lap to travel and the son of Western Terror was untroubled to score by 10 metres from Barra Mac and Hes Olly.
Craven said he took the opportunity to press forward at the bell and gain a break on his main danger National News.
āOnce the tempo really slackened off coming to the bell it didnāt seem that anyone was going to make a move so I thought Iād chance my arm and look for the front,ā Craven said.
Craven believes Rubins Plight possesses the ability to win better races in the future.
āHe was always very fast as a younger horse but as heās got older heās got stronger and matured into a nice type of horse and tonight he showed he could use his dash and sustain his speed as well,ā he said.
āHeās a horse that would follow speed really well and they are generally horses that can go a long way, so as long as he stays healthy and sound heāll race in some nice races later on.ā
The lightly raced Rubins Plight, who is trained by Cravenās cousin Matthew, has now won seven of his 15 starts with three placings.
