Newly-crowned Australian 3YO Colt/Gelding Pacer of the Year Act Now has drawn outside the back row for his return to harness racing in Saturday night’s Group 1 DNR Logistics 4YO Bonanza.
Emma Stewart’s star has not competed since his win in the Breeders Crown Series Final in mid-November and is one of the headline horses in the $100,000 clash at Tabcorp Park Melton.
Vicbred Super Series 3YO Colts and Geldings Final winner Bondi Lockdown (Aaron Dunn) has drawn off the front row, but is wide in gate six, while Kimble (Matthew Craven) has the coveted inside alley and will be trailed out by another of Stewart’s runners in Beyond Delight.
Stewart will have three starters in the race with Go Dancing (three) also in the field.
Along with the Del-Re National A G Hunter Cup, the Alabar Bloodstock Ladyship Cup is the other Group 1 on Saturday night’s card.
Nathan Purdon-trained Spellbound has drawn gate one for her tilt at an elusive elite-level success, while the horse she chased home in December 31’s VSS 4YO Mares Final, Maajida (Stewart), has barrier seven.
Trainer Dean Braun and driver Chris Alford are looking for back-to-back wins in the race and have Kiwi import Im Off N Gone in gate three.
The All In One Property Mercury80 Final will be run over the 1200m scamper and heat winners La Puddie (Jess Tubbs), Ozzie Battler (Julie Douglas), Love Ina Chevy (Lance Justice) and Cash N Flow (Belinda McCarthy) have barriers one, two, three and nine respectively. Emergency Boots Electric (Russell Jack) has gate seven.
The first event on Saturday night’s card will kick off from 6.05pm, with the last of 10 to go at 10.57pm.
The What The Hill Great Southern Star is the highlight of Friday night’s Melton meeting, but the Aldebaran Park Vicbred Platinum Trotting Mares Sprint Championship Final will also be run and won.
The Group 2 is worth $30,000 and follows heats at country venues.
Friday night’s card begins at 6.32pm (AEDT).
