She was out for redemption and promising trotting filly Banglez certainly achieved that at Kilmore tonight, claiming her second Group 1 in just 10 starts.
Although it was a bit patchy to begin with when the daughter of Majestic Son went up in the air galloping as soon as the mobile arms released, Banglez made up considerable ground to make amends to claim the $50,000 TAB Australasian Premier Trotting Sale Final.
After catching the field, reinsman Greg Sugars urged the three-year-old filly around the field to sit outside the leader Aldebaran Ursula.
The leading pair had a strong battle in the home straight with Banglez hitting the finish line with a neck to spare over her rival.
āYou donāt want to know what was going through my head at the start, probably canāt repeat that live on air,” said Sugars.
“I wasnāt really happy with they way things were working out at the start but talking to the camp pre-race they were very confident in the horseās ability and where she was at tonight and that she would run a hell of a race and they certainly werenāt wrong.
āEven though it was a narrow victory it was my race to lose.
āSheās only relatively lightly raced and she has improved with racing.
āSheās only a little thing and hasnāt developed a great deal but her will to win and stamina is stronger.ā
Trained by Emma Stewart, Banglez rated 2:01.9 to claim her first victory of the year after galloping in two of her previous start.
Tonightās effort extended her earnings to $94,940 from 10 starts, three wins and as many placings.
