Bathurst Gold Crown Yearling Sale on Sunday

The annual Bathurst Gold Crown Yearling Sale will be conducted at the Paceway this Sunday (Mar 19) commencing at 12 Noon.

There are 87 beautifully bred lots that will parade through the auction ring with many of todays proven harness racing sires such as Art Major, Bettors Delight, Always B Miki and Modern Art.

Now speaking of Modern Art everyone of us could have bought a nice Modern Art colt at the 2017 Bathurst Sale for around $12,000. However we all missed that opportunity and now Kevin Gordon from Lochinvar, NSW, is benefitting with an exciting horse called Lochinvar Art, now the winner of  $1.405 million.

However the owners of Better Be The Best and Windy Hill Tara are now celebrating the fact that they attended the 2021 Bathurst Sale after winning the $200,000 NSW Derby and Oaks recently at Menangle.  The total cost of their respective purchases being just $38,500 and now those same two horses have combined earnings of $388,000.

Looking further afield to North America, many smart judges up there consider Bulldog Hanover to be the greatest pacer of all time and he was a $28,000 purchase for Canadian Jack Darling.

Most of the Yearlings in the Catalogue are Eligible for the NSW Breeders Challenge Series [ 73 LOTS ] but there are also 23 yearlings that are Eligible for the lucrative Vicbred Series.
