West Melton harness racing trainers David and Stacey White are excited about the trip to Brisbane that lies ahead for their talented trotter Bet N Win (What The Hill).

The four year old was at the Rangiora trials yesterday and after leading in the 2000 metre heat against the pacers, was run down late by Mighty Flying Lou.

BET N WIN REPLAY

“We got a good solid run under our belt and the time was pretty good on a fairly damp track. He ate up everything last night and he seems bright. He’ll take a bit of improvement from it so it’s just what we wanted,” David said.

Bet N Win flies out for Sydney on Tuesday.

“We’ll be at Menangle for a few days then head up to Vic Frost and Gail Geeson’s at Tweed Heads where we’ll be based for the trip.”

The gelding’s first assignment will be the Stella Square, a Listed race on at Albion Park on 6th of July. His two main targets will be the $150,000 Group One Great Square Three and Four Year Old Trot on 13th July and the $100,000 Group One Queensland Trotters Cup on 27th July also to be raced at Albion Park.

“There is another race on the 20th but we’ll see how it pans out. We’ll probably just go to the three races at this stage.”

Regular pilot Bob Butt who has driven the horse in four of his six wins will be making the trip too.

“Yep, Bob’s booked his flights to go over. He’s about as excited for the trip as we are I think.”

Bet N Win is owned by a multitude of owners, and some of them will be heading over for The Great Square.

“Stace has done a bit of a tally up for the Great Square night and I think she’s got to over twenty people which is exciting.”

White says the opposition will be strong.

“Rockinwithattitude (Aldebaran Eagle) is a real quality mare and she went terrific at Melton last week. And London To A Brick (Bettor’s Delight) won in 1-54 at Menangle. He won the Great Square last year. It’s a bit hard to get a line of how they’re going to match up because we’re all coming from different places but I think that adds to the excitement.”

White said Bet N Win will fly home in early August.

“All going well we’ll give him a little freshen up and look to work towards the Dominion.”
