Promising trotter Watts Up Majestic made a statement when winning first up from a spell at Tabcorp Park Menangle on Tuesday.
And the performance matches the plans connections have for the son of Majestic Son for the remainder of the season.
The three-year-old set a new Australasian mile record for his age and gait when stepping out on track and stopping the clock in 1:54.2.
He lowered the previous record held by On Advice that rated a mile in 1:54.5 when winning at the same venue last June.
Trained and driven by Rickie Alchin, Watts Up Majestic did all the work in front to claim the accolade.
Pressured from the onset by Brian Portelli and his drive Right Moves, Watts Up Majestic rolled through the sectionals in 28.6, 28.2, 28.2 and 29.2 seconds and crossed the line with more than six metres to spare over his rivals.
Watts Up Majestic had not raced since the New South Wales Trotters Derby on May 8 where he galloped and finished 81m behind his rivals.
āHe is a pretty nice little trotter,ā said Alchin.
āHe went a bit of a miss last time around.
āHe will have one more run in Sydney and then weāll head to Victoria for the Derby and a crack at going back-to-back in the Breeders Crown.ā
This victory extended his record to four wins and seven placings in 15 starts.
His second victory was in the $100,000 Group 1 Breeders Crown last November.
Watts Up Majestic was bred and now raced by Bradley Watts.
